Acetate vs. Metal Frames

Acetate vs. Metal Frames

Acetate and metal cover most of the eyewear market. Neither is better outright — they suit different priorities.

Acetate

A plant-based plastic, hand-polished on quality frames. Holds bold colour and thicker profiles, warms slightly to the touch, and is easy for an optician to re-shape with gentle heat.

Metal

Usually a stainless steel, titanium or monel alloy. Thinner at the rim for a lighter visual footprint, often with adjustable nose pads for a precise fit. Titanium in particular is very light and corrosion resistant.
